Clipstone Cemetery Rules and Regulations for Visitors

In setting these rules and regulations, Clipstone Parish Council is attempting to balance the individual wishes of bereaved families with the need to ensure the Cemetery is safely managed for the benefit of all visitors. We also want to preserve the attractiveness of the Cemetery.

You are therefore respectfully asked to read and keep to the following rules:

Maintaining the Cemetery

Clipstone Parish Council manages and maintains the Cemetery in accordance with the Local Authorities’ Cemeteries Order 1977 and subsequent amendments issued by the Secretary of State.

All persons entering the Cemetery do so at their own risk and the Council will not accept any liability for injuries or damage sustained. Neither will the Council be held responsible for damage or breakage to any memorial or to cars (whether parked or using the Cemetery road).

Maintenance work carried out by our staff can mean some temporary disruption to your visit or loved one’s grave. Every effort is made to minimise this disruption, but we ask for your understanding and patience. In particular:

The Council may require the owner of any memorial or gravestone considered dangerous or unsightly to remove it or make it safe. If the request is not acted upon within the time specified, then the Council will carry out the work and seek to recover its costs.

Enquiries

All enquiries should be made to the Parish Clerk at the Village Hall on Church Road and not to Cemetery staff.

Please also let us know if you feel others, including members of our staff, are not adhering to these rules.

Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation.
